Beach Overview

Beadnell Bay is a sweeping crescent of golden sand on the Northumberland coast, sheltered by the headland and the remains of the 18th-century lime kilns at the harbour. The bay faces south-east, making it one of the warmest and most sheltered beaches on this stretch of coast. The water is remarkably clear and the sand is clean and firm.

Why Dogs Love It

Beadnell combines a wide sandy beach with rock pools, a harbour to explore and clean, calm water for swimming. The bay is sheltered from the prevailing south-westerly winds, making it pleasant even on breezy days. Dogs can run the full length of the bay and explore the fascinating lime kilns at the northern end. At low tide, the sand stretches far out, creating paddling pools and channels.

Dog Access

Dogs are welcome year-round on Beadnell Bay with no restrictions at any time. The beach is managed by Northumberland County Council and has no seasonal dog bans. This makes it one of the best year-round dog beaches in the north of England.

Facilities and Access
