Marlow to Hambleden Lock via Thames Path

A beautiful riverside walk along the Thames Path from the Georgian town of Marlow to the picturesque Hambleden Lock and weir. The route follows the Thames through meadows with views of Bisham Abbey and Temple Island.
The Route
Start from Higginson Park in Marlow and cross the suspension bridge. Turn left onto the Thames Path heading upstream past Bisham Abbey on the opposite bank. Continue through water meadows to Hurley Lock, then onwards to Hambleden Lock with its photogenic weir. Return the same way or loop back via Hurley village.
Dog-Friendly Details
The Thames Path is flat and easy for all dogs. Several access points allow dogs to paddle in the river. The meadow sections are off-lead friendly when no cattle are present. The path can be muddy after rain in winter. Water bowls are sometimes provided at the locks by the Canal and River Trust.

Free parking at Higginson Park in Marlow (limited). Pay-and-display on the High Street. Marlow has numerous dog-friendly pubs and cafes including The Hand and Flowers and The Royal Oak. Toilets at the park.
