Dinefwr Park and Castle Walk

Dinefwr Park near Llandeilo is a magnificent National Trust estate with a medieval castle, deer park and stunning views across the Tywi Valley. This walk explores the parkland and castle ruins on a circuit through one of Wales's finest historic landscapes.
The route takes you through the deer park where a herd of fallow deer has grazed for over 900 years. The castle ruins sit on a prominent hilltop with panoramic views of the valley and the Brecon Beacons beyond. The ancient parkland trees are spectacular, with some oaks estimated to be over 500 years old.
Dogs are welcome on the estate paths but must be on leads in the deer park. The estate is peaceful and uncrowded, offering a wonderful combination of history, nature and walking.

Yes, dogs are welcome at Dinefwr Park. They must be kept on leads in the deer park to protect the deer herd. On the wider estate paths outside the deer park, well-behaved dogs can be off-lead. Dogs are not permitted inside Newton House.
Is Dinefwr Castle free to visit?
The castle ruins are free to visit and are separate from Newton House (which has an admission charge). National Trust members get free parking and access to Newton House. The deer park and castle grounds are accessible to all.
