Fowey Estuary Walk
St Ives, Cornwall
The Fowey Estuary walk follows the Hall Walk, a historic promenade above the tidal estuary that was once the pleasure walk of the Mohun family of Hall manor. The route offers elevated views over one of Cornwall's most beautiful river estuaries.
The Route
Start from Bodinnick, reached by the small car ferry from Fowey. Follow the Hall Walk along the ridge above Pont Pill creek, through ancient oak woodland with views down to boats moored on the water. Cross the head of Pont Pill and continue to Polruan, a charming fishing village. Return to Fowey by the passenger ferry.
Dog-Friendly Details
Dogs can be off-lead through the woodland sections. The path passes through farmland where leads are needed. Both ferries welcome dogs. The creekside sections are muddy at low tide, which most dogs consider a highlight. Polruan has a small beach where dogs can swim.
