High Force and Low Force Waterfall Walk
Middleton-in-Teesdale, County Durham
This spectacular walk in Upper Teesdale follows the River Tees between two of England's most impressive waterfalls. High Force, at 21 metres, is the largest waterfall in England by volume, and Low Force is a beautiful series of cascades over the Whin Sill.
The Pennine Way runs along this section and the walking is dramatic throughout. The ancient juniper woodland near Low Force is one of the finest in England. The sound of the river and the power of the falls are mesmerising.
Dogs enjoy the riverside walking and there are safe paddling spots. The terrain is wild and beautiful - this is one of England's most remote and atmospheric landscapes.
