Becky Falls Woodland Walk
Dartmouth, Devon
Becky Falls is a 22-metre waterfall tumbling through ancient boulder-strewn woodland in the Bovey Valley on eastern Dartmoor. The surrounding woodland is part of an ancient Atlantic oakwood, draped in mosses, ferns and lichens that create a prehistoric atmosphere.
The Route
Start from Becky Falls car park and follow the woodland trail down to the falls. The waterfall tumbles through massive granite boulders, creating pools and cascades. From the falls, follow the Becky Brook upstream through the upper woodland, where twisted oaks and towering beeches create a green canopy overhead. Loop back via the moorland edge with views across Dartmoor.
Dog-Friendly Details
Dogs are welcome on leads throughout the Becky Falls woodland. The terrain includes some boulder hopping and steep sections. Dogs can drink from the brook but should be kept from the edge of the falls. The moorland section above allows off-lead walking away from livestock.
