Hereford to Dinedor Hill Circular

This walk climbs from the banks of the River Wye in Hereford to the Iron Age hillfort of Dinedor Hill, which offers panoramic views across the Wye Valley, Black Mountains and Malvern Hills. The route passes through a landscape of orchards, hop fields and ancient hedgerows.
The Route
Start from the Victoria Bridge in Hereford and follow the Wye Valley Walk south along the riverbank. After a mile, turn east on footpaths through farmland, climbing gradually to Dinedor Hill (198m). The Iron Age ramparts are well-preserved and the views are spectacular. Descend north through orchards and lanes back to the city.

The riverside section is off-lead friendly with good swimming access. Dogs must be on leads through farmland as livestock are common. The hilltop has open grazing, so leads are advisable. The terrain is gentle with no difficult sections. Apple orchards in autumn provide a beautiful backdrop.
