Long Mynd and Carding Mill Valley Walk
Church Stretton, Shropshire
The Long Mynd is one of the most dramatic upland areas in the Shropshire Hills AONB, and Carding Mill Valley at its foot is the starting point for one of the finest walks in the Midlands. The route climbs from the valley to the summit plateau with its wild moorland and expansive views.
Carding Mill Valley is managed by the National Trust and has a stream that dogs adore. The climb up the valley is steady, and the open moorland above offers a real sense of space and freedom. The views from the top stretch across Shropshire and into Wales.
The descent can follow the same route or an alternative path for variety. The National Trust tearoom in the valley bottom is a welcome sight after the walk, and dogs are welcome in the outdoor area.
