Porlock Weir to Culbone Church Walk
Porlock, Somerset
This beautiful coastal woodland walk on the edge of Exmoor follows the South West Coast Path through ancient oak woodland to Culbone Church, reputedly the smallest complete parish church in England. The route is one of the most atmospheric walks in Somerset.
Starting from the harbour at Porlock Weir, the path climbs gently through sessile oak woodland clinging to the steep hillside above the Bristol Channel. The dappled light filtering through the canopy creates a magical atmosphere. Culbone Church, hidden in a tiny wooded combe, is a truly special place.
Dogs love this walk with its woodland trails and occasional stream crossings. The combination of ancient woodland, coastal views and the secret church makes this one of Exmoor's finest walks.
