The Old Nags Head in Edale sits at the official start of the Pennine Way, making it one of the most famous walking pubs in England. For decades, hikers have set off from (or collapsed into) this welcoming pub at the foot of Kinder Scout. Dogs are an integral part of the pub's character.
The bar serves well-kept Peak District ales and hearty food designed for walkers: pies, stews, sandwiches and their famous chips. The atmosphere is friendly and egalitarian, with muddy boots and wet dogs as welcome as polished shoes. Log fires warm the bar in winter.
