The Sportsman is a whitewashed pub on the marshes outside Whitstable that holds a Michelin star for its extraordinary food. Chef Stephen Harris creates dishes from ingredients sourced within walking distance, and the pub remains refreshingly unpretentious despite its acclaim.
Dogs are welcome in the bar area, which retains its pubby character with bare floorboards and simple furnishings. The bar serves local ales and you can enjoy a drink while waiting for a table or simply visiting for a pint.
The surrounding marshes are excellent for dog walking, and the Saxon Shore Way passes right by the pub. Many visitors combine a walk along the coast with lunch or dinner here.
