The Ridgeway National Trail passes through the Chiltern Hills near Wendover, and this walk follows a section of Britain's oldest road through stunning beechwood and along the chalk escarpment with views across the Vale of Aylesbury.

The ancient Ridgeway has been used as a trackway for at least 5,000 years. The section near Wendover passes through some of the finest beech woodland in the Chilterns, with cathedral-like tree canopies overhead. The views from the escarpment edge are extensive.

Dogs enjoy the woodland walking and the open chalk grassland on the ridge. Wendover is a pleasant town with dog-friendly pubs. The walk can be shortened or extended using various connecting paths.
