This walk combines the ancient beech woodlands of Wendover Woods with the dramatic viewpoint of Coombe Hill, the highest point in the Chilterns at 260 metres. The Boer War memorial at the summit marks a spot with views stretching across the Aylesbury Vale to the Cotswolds.

The Route

Start at Wendover Woods car park and follow the Ridgeway National Trail south through the woods. After about a mile, take the path east to Coombe Hill. The ascent is gradual through open grassland. From the monument, descend north and loop back through the woods via the Firecrest Trail.
