Padstow to Stepper Point Coastal Walk
Padstow, Cornwall
This 5-mile coastal walk from Padstow to Stepper Point offers superb views of the Camel Estuary and wild Atlantic coastline. The route follows the South West Coast Path to the dramatic headland at the mouth of the estuary before returning along a quieter inland path.
The Route
Begin at Padstow harbour and follow the coast path northwest past St George's Cove. The path climbs to the clifftops with views back across the Camel Estuary to Rock and Daymer Bay. Continue to Stepper Point, where the Daymark tower (a navigation landmark for ships) stands on the headland. The views from here are magnificent, encompassing Trevose Head, Newquay and on clear days, Lundy Island.
From Stepper Point, the return route heads inland through farmland, joining a quiet lane that leads back to Padstow. Alternatively, retrace your steps along the coast path for different views. The final section drops back into the charming harbour town with its seafood restaurants and galleries.
