Wareham Forest is one of the largest areas of heathland and conifer woodland in Dorset and offers superb dog walking. This route explores the forest trails and the edge of Morden Bog National Nature Reserve.

The forest is home to all six native reptile species including sand lizards and smooth snakes. The heathland areas are stunning in late summer when the heather blooms purple. Dogs are welcome throughout the forest but should be on lead on the heathland between March and September for ground-nesting birds.

The Sika Trail is a popular waymarked route that can be followed or adapted. The forest is relatively quiet compared to more popular Dorset destinations, making it ideal for dogs who prefer a peaceful walk.
