This Jurassic Coast walk links two of Dorset's most iconic landmarks: the natural limestone arch of Durdle Door and the perfectly circular Lulworth Cove. The route follows the South West Coast Path along dramatic white chalk cliffs with views that have inspired artists for centuries.

The Route

Start from the Lulworth Cove car park and climb the steep steps to the clifftop. Follow the coast path west with Lulworth Cove below, then continue along the undulating cliff edge to Man O'War Bay and Durdle Door. The famous arch is best viewed from the clifftop or from the beach (steep steps down). Return via the same route or take the inland path through the caravan park for variety.

Dog-Friendly Details

Dogs are welcome on the coast path year-round. Man O'War Bay allows dogs all year. Lulworth Cove beach has seasonal restrictions (May to September). Keep dogs on leads near the cliff edges and on the steep steps. The walk is hilly with several steep ascents and descents, so ensure your dog is fit enough for the terrain.

Practical Information

Large pay-and-display car park at Lulworth Cove. Toilets, cafe and pub in Lulworth village. The steps down to the beach at Durdle Door are steep and can be slippery. Best on a clear day for the views.
