Wimbledon Common is 1,140 acres of heath, woodland and grassland in south-west London, one of the largest commons in the capital. The common is famous for its windmill (now a museum), the Wombles and its role as one of London's premier dog walking destinations.

The Route

Start from Wimbledon Village and cross onto the common via the War Memorial. Follow paths through mixed woodland to the Windmill, then continue across open heathland to Queensmere Pond. The route passes through Putney Heath and returns via the Beverley Brook, a stream that runs along the common's eastern edge.
