Blenheim Palace Great Park
Woodstock, Oxfordshire
Blenheim Palace's park was landscaped by Capability Brown and covers over 2,000 acres of Oxfordshire countryside. While the formal gardens require paid entry, the wider park is accessible for walkers and offers one of the finest designed landscapes in England, with the iconic bridge over the lake visible from many angles.
The Route
Enter through the Woodstock gate and follow the main drive for views of the palace and Vanbrugh's Grand Bridge. Turn right to circle the Great Lake, passing through ancient oak parkland. Continue to the Column of Victory and through High Park (home to veteran oak trees, some over 500 years old). Return via Fair Rosamund's Well.
Dog-Friendly Details
Dogs are welcome in the park on leads. The parkland is extensive enough to feel spacious even on busy days. Dogs are not permitted in the formal gardens or palace. Water access at the lake edges for thirsty dogs. The park is drier underfoot than many rural walks.
Practical Information
Entry to the park is cheaper than the full palace ticket (park-only passes available). Car park included. Cafe at the visitor centre (dogs welcome outdoors). Woodstock itself has several dog-friendly pubs and tea rooms. The park is open daily.
