Blenheim Palace is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with 2,000 acres of parkland landscaped by Capability Brown. The park is open to walkers and dogs, offering gentle lakeside strolls and longer circuits through ancient woodland and across the designed landscape.

The Route

Enter the park through Woodstock town gate and follow the Grand Avenue towards the palace. Turn right to follow the lakeside path around Queen Pool and the Great Lake, designed by Brown to appear as a natural river. The path passes the magnificent Grand Bridge and continues through the parkland with views back to the palace facade. Loop through the High Park woodland and return via the Column of Victory.

Dog-Friendly Details

Dogs are welcome in the park on leads at all times. While the lead requirement may seem restrictive, the park is so vast and beautiful that on-lead walking is a pleasure. Dogs are not allowed in the formal gardens or inside the palace. The lakeside provides drinking water (though prevent swimming in the ornamental lake).

Practical Information

Park access is included in the Blenheim estate admission or via separate park tickets (significantly cheaper than full palace tickets). Free entry for Woodstock residents. Car parking at the main entrance (included in ticket). The estate has a cafe and restaurant. Toilets at the main entrance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you need to pay to walk in Blenheim Park?

Yes, park access requires a ticket, though park-only tickets are cheaper than full palace admission. Woodstock residents get free park access.
