Orford Ness and River Walk

This walk from the charming village of Orford follows the River Ore to views of the mysterious Orford Ness, the largest vegetated shingle spit in Europe. Once a secret military testing site, the Ness is now a National Trust nature reserve.
The river path offers views across to the Ness with its distinctive pagodas - former nuclear weapons testing buildings. The village of Orford has a magnificent 12th-century castle keep and excellent seafood including the famous Orford smoked fish.
