Your Puppy's First Walk: What to Expect
Dr. James Harper 3 February 2026 7 min read
Taking your puppy on their first walk is a milestone moment! But it can also be daunting. Here's everything you need to know to make it a positive experience for both of you.
When Can My Puppy Go for Walks?
Your puppy can go on walks one week after their second vaccination. This is usually around 12-14 weeks of age. Your vet will confirm when it's safe.
Tips for the First Walk
Keep it short (10-15 minutes), let your puppy set the pace, and carry lots of treats to reward brave behaviour.
