Key Walks and Green Spaces

• Hubbard's Hills - This beautiful wooded valley on the edge of Louth is the town's most popular walking destination. The River Lud flows through a narrow, steep-sided valley shaded by mature trees, creating a magical setting that feels miles from anywhere. Dogs can paddle in the river and explore the grassy banks. Entry is free and the paths are accessible year-round.
• The Lincolnshire Wolds - Louth sits at the eastern gateway to the AONB, and numerous walks radiate from the town into the surrounding hills. The valleys to the west - particularly around Tealby, Walesby, and Belchford - offer rolling terrain, quiet lanes, and excellent views. The Viking Way passes nearby.
• Louth Canal - The historic canal runs east from the town towards the coast, providing flat, easy walking along the towpath. It is a pleasant, sheltered route and good for less mobile dogs.

The chalk-and-clay paths in the Wolds can be very slippery after rain, so grip on boots matters here more than in most parts of Lincolnshire. Spring and autumn are arguably the best seasons for Wolds walking, offering good conditions underfoot and quieter paths.
